19 Jan - Pearl Harbor Memorial Tour

After dropping the boys at school we mustered at the Pacific Fleet Commander's Boat House for a special tour of the Boat House, Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial. This is a great benefit afforded military members on the island.

Nancy and Howitt in front of the boathouse quarterdeck.

It was the clearest day we had in a long time and the views of the mountains from Pearl Harbor were great.

The USS Bowfin, moored at the national park. Bowfin, known as the Pearl Harbor Avenger, was launched one year to the day after the Pearl Harbor attack and went on to sink 44 enemy ships.

On the memorial

Mobbed by teenage girls, taking me back to the days before I met Kim. And Kim wasn't feeling too young hanging with the guy wearing gold braid on his cover.
