East side of the island is very windswept and the views are expansive. Feels a bit like being on a ship. Starting this time of year this is the best place to see wintering humpback whales, but none seen today.

Picnic at Makapu'u overlook. Not a bad setting for a sandwich.
Then out to the Pali overlook for views of the Windward Side. This is off the Pali highway which started as the original trail through the Koolau Mountains. Here looking over the town of Kaneohe and Kaneohe Bay. Just follow the hand. King Kamehameha pushed warriors belonging to Oahu's ruling king off these same cliffs in one of the major battles which finally united all the islands under Kamehameha's rule
The Koolau's form the southern end of an ancient volcanic crater and you never get tired of looking at them - they are amazing
Boys brought their new cameras along. Zach is quite the action photographer.
