A member of our Church is the Chief of the Boat (senior enlisted member) of the USS Louisville, a Los Angeles class fast attack submarine.
He had his two youngest Baptized onboard in the crew's mess. Per tradition, the ship's bell was de-rigged and used to hold the Baptismal water. The children's names are then stamped into the inside of the bell. After the ceremony and refreshments we all got a tour of the crew's quarters, the torpedo room and control - where the submarine is driven. Boys thought all this was way too cool, especially climbing down the hatch and walking onto the deck. I was rung on and off the ship which startled me into how old I gotten.
