02 Oct - Manoa Falls

We decided to take a look at Manoa Falls which is located just north of Honolulu. The guidebook said it was a nice easy hike, but turned out to be a scramble up a muddy, rooty trail. All the better Kim wore white shorts.

As the falls are up in the Koolau mountains the area gets quite a bit of rain and the trail was surrounded by rainforest.

Each of these fern leaves was probably a good six feet long. Kim saw a wild hog near this spot.

We heard we were lucky there was actually water on the falls. Apparently sometimes it's just a trickle.

After our hike back down we managed to get the kids cleaned up enough to grab cheeseburgers downtown.
