04 Feb - Sydney to Christchurch

Up early to the Sydney airport for a flight on Emirates Airlines direct to Christchurch. Emirates is the opposite of every US based airline. The coach section was plush, the boys were given nice toys prior to liftoff and then served their own special kid's meals (spaghetti) before everyone else was served. All for a three hour flight. Through the bottom mounted camera displayed on the seat back entertainment you could watch the Southern Alps roll by. Pretty slick. Once we landed we were only one time zone behind Hawaii (one day ahead).

We were met at the airport by the owner of our bed and breakfast, Huntingdon Grange, and driven to drop our bags and then out to dinner.

The owners have 35 acres of land for us tromp around and at least a few examples of sheep, alpaca, chickens and horses that everyone in New Zealand seems to have. When Kim asked the owner how much help he had to manage the land he said, "eeeh, this is just a weekender!" They even had their own grass tennis court.
